About Sri Go:da: Rangana:tha Kalyanam:

Our beloved Mother Sri Go:da: De:vi (A:nda:l) performed a vratham in the devotional service to Lord Sri Rangana;tha of Srirangam.  On behalf of all of us she prayed to Lord Rangana:tha to bless us to fulfill all our desires. These prayers were sung in the form of 30 ecstatic pasurams called “Thiruppa:vai”.

Appearing in a Thulasi garden to Her father Vishnu Chitta (Periya:lwa:r) in Sra:vana ma:sam, pu:rva phalguni nakshathram, more than 5000 years ago in Srivilliputthur. She is an incarnation of Sri Bhu:de:vi (the eternal consort of Lord Na:ra:yana). Her devotion and pure love towards Lord Rangana:tha knew no bounds. It was Go:da: de:vi’s pure desire to get married to Lord Rangana:tha. She always felt that she belonged to none other than Sri Rangana:tha. To the extent that she wore the garlands that Periya:lwar used to prepare to be taken for Lord Rangana:tha.  To fulfill this pure desire of our mother, Lord Rangana:tha asked Periyalwar to bring Go:da: de:v:i to Srirangam from Srivilliputtur. Once she entered the sanctum where Sri Rangana:tha resides, due to his mercy she attained mo:ksham in front of all the devotees. Periya:lwa:r pleaded Sri Rangana:tha for his daughter. To this Lord Rangana:tha asked Periya:lwa:r to go back to Srivilliputthur to find her.

When Periya:lwa:r arrived back home to Srivilliputthur he saw Sri:manna:ra:yana on His Garuda along with Go:da: De:vi. To this day we can have their divine darshan in this holy place of Srivilliputthur.

With the mangalasasanams(blessings) of Acharya Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, Team JETUK has celebrated Sri Goda Ranganatha Swami Kalyanam on 16 Jan 2022 at War Memorial Hall, Amersham, UK.

Event started off with Edurukolu and Pallaki Seva. Event is kicked off with the Deepa Prajvalana by all the kumaris and Srimathis. Then the priests Sriman Harsha swami and Jayaram swami explained about Goda Devi and Periyalwar and Ranganatha swami and why we are celebrating Kalyanam.

The whole event was anchored by the Prajna students, Sai Krishna and Dhanya, and every one participated with great interest.

All the Ubayadaris were given the Silver Deity of Goda Devi and performed the Goda Ashttothara Pooja after the Kalyanam.

Following the Kalyanam we had Prasadam served to the devotees along with wonderful cultural events (Sloka chanting, Dancing, Singing, Inspiring stories about Prajna course etc) by the Prajna (https://jetuk.org//prajna-for-kids) students and the Prajna graduation ceremony for the module 1 and 2 students. We had totally 38 students who had graduated this year.

And the final bit of the event is the “Bhogi Pandlu” for the children where in they were blessed with good health and wealth.

Team JETUK personally thank to all the volunteers who served to setup the wonderful kalyana mandapam, pallaki, design and setup the Sankranthi theme and many more. Thanks to one and all for participating in the divine event. Jai Srimannarayana.

She is an incarnation of Sri Bho:devi (the eternal consort of Lord Narayana). Her devotion and pure love towards Lord Ranganatha knew no bounds. It was Goda devi’s pure desire to get married to Lord Ranganatha. She always felt that she belonged to none other than Sri Ranganatha. To the extent that she wore the garlands that Periya:lwar used to prepare to be taken for Lord Ranganatha.  To fulfill this pure desire of our mother, Lord Ranganatha asked Periyalwar to bring Goda devi to Srirangam from Srivilliputtur. Once she entered the sanctum where Sri Ranganatha resides, due to his mercy she attained moksham in front of all the devotees. Periyalwar pleaded Sri Ranganatha for his daughter. To this Lord Ranganatha asked Periya:lwar to go back to Srivilliputtur to find her.

When Periya:lwar arrived back home to Srivilliputtur he saw Srimannarayana on His Garuda along with Goda Devi. To this day we can have their divine darshan in this holy place of Srivilliputtur.
