I surrender unto Peyazhwar who is the leader of Mylapore and was born out of a red lilly flower in a well and who attained great bliss by having the divine vision of Sriman Narayanan with Sri Mahalakshmi.

Pey Azhwar is amongst the mudal azhwars. He appeared in a temple tank in a red Lilly flower.

He was so filled with bhakti towards Lord, he was moving around as a person who was possessed. Hence was called as Payen (means a possessed person)

I worship bhUthathAzhwAr who is the leader of thirukkadalmallai (mAmallapuram) and was born out of a mAdhavI (spring) flower and who lit the lamp of knowledge to have the vision of the supreme lord.

I meditate on Poigai AzhwAr who was born in the pond in thiruvekkA out of a golden lotus flower and who lit the divine lamp using the radiant sun to have the vision of sriman narayanan.

Poigai Azhwar is amongst the mudal azhwars. He appeared in a lotus in the temple pond (poigai in tamil) of Thiruvekha near Kanchipuram. Hence he acquired the name Poigai Azhwar

• The Sudarshana Chakra is a spinning, disk-like weapon with 108 serrated edges which is held by the supreme lord Maha Vishnu.
• According to the Puranas, Sudarshana Chakra is used for the ultimate destruction of an enemy. The depiction of Vishnu with Sudarshana Chakra also means that Vishnu is the keeper-owner of the celestial bodies and heavens.
• Sudharshana Chakram is one of the lord’s 5 weapons.

This stotra of eight slokas (plus one phalasruti) is in praise of Sudarsana, the weapon known as chakraayudha held by the Lord in His right hand. Sudarsana is Hetiraja or king of weapons.

I worship periyazhwar who proclaimed the essence of vedham (without learning it from an Acharya methodically – he was directly blessed by bhagavan with divine blemish less knowledge) to win over pouch containing gold at the pandiya king’s assembly and who is the direct father-in-law of sri ranganathan (due to him being the father of Andal nachiyar) and who is the leader of brahmanas.
