UGADI IS A FESTIVAL OF JOY TO EXPERIENCE

The first day of Lunar Calendar is called Uga:di or Yuga:di. Ve:dic scriptures reveal that the creation was started on Yuga:di day. When Lord Na:ra:yana decided to start the creation from the Milk Ocean, a lotus flower emerged from his navel. When the lotus was opened, a four-headed Bramha was sitting in it. God gave him Ve:dic Knowledge and ordered him to start the creation with the help of Ve:das. Vedic Scriptures recommend 3 activities to be done on Yuga:di Day,

1) Abhyangana Sna:nam

2) Pancha:nga Sravanam

3) Nimba Kusuma Bhakshanam.

SRI RAMA NAVAMI AND SRI SITA RAMA KALYANAM

According to the Lunar Calendar, Sri: Ra:ma Navami is celebrated on the 9th day of Chaithra month that comes during Vasantha Ruthu, the spring season. It was on this day that Lord Vishnu was born as Lord Ra:ma. The sage Va:lmi:ki revealed the whole story to us in the epic of Sri: Ra:ma:yana. The 9th day of Yuga:di was named as Sri Ra:ma Navami in the memory of Lord Sri Ra:mas birth. Ra:ma went to the forest along with sage Viswa:mithra to guard the Yajna when he was twelve years old. To show his gratitude, sage Viswa:mithra took Ra:ma to Mithila and performed the marriage of all four brothers with the consent of their father. So, we celebrate the Si:tha Ra:ma Kalya:nam, the divine wedding function also on this Navami day.

21st Jan – Sri Goda Ranganatha Kalyanam Orpington

The month Ma:rgasi:rsha promotes spirituality among the people. According to Solar calendar, this period becomes Dhanurma:sam, starting from Dec 16th 2016. Go:da de:vi chose this month as appropriate to fulfill her divine desire. She imitated the Ka:thaya:yani Vratha of Go:pikas, for one month. Each day, A:nda:l(Go:da De:vi) composed one song and submitted at the Lotus feet of the Lord. Thus, she offered thirty songs in the form of a wonderful garland to Lord. These thirty Tamil pa:surams are called Tiruppa:vai. At the end of the Vratham, Sri: Rangana:tha appeared to Vishnu Chittha and ordered him to give A:nda:l in marriage. Lord sent a palanquin to bring Go:da De:vi. The day Go:da married Lord Rangana:tha became popular as Bho:gi. It means the day on which Go:da enjoyed the Divine bliss. We celebrate Go:das wedding every year concluding the Dhanurma:sam. Next day becomes Sankra:nthi, the festival of prosperity and reverence to the Nature.

HH Tirunakshatram 2015 Celebrations

O:m Asmad Gurubhyo:namaha

 JETDiwali2015
Jai Srimannarayana, with the grace of our Acharya HH Chinna Jeeyar swamiji, we were fortunate to celebrate his tirunakshatram in Eastham, London, UK. Adding to the celebrations that were done on 11th Nov 2015(Wed), we did grandly celebrate the tirunakshatram event on the following weekend on 15th Nov 2015 (Sun) 10am till 3pm. Our fortune doubled on that day as it was also the tirunakshatram of Sri Manavala Mamuni. So our celebrations knew no bounds and all of us were filled with joy & happiness.
On the day all the devotees got together at the venue in the morning. The ladies started arranging and decorating the altar with beautiful flowers and lamps. Perumal Rama along with parivaram arrived and looked glorious seated between Sri Bhagvad Ramanujacharya and Sri Chinna Jeeyar swamiji. Alankarams were done with beautiful jewellery and flowers. Devotees also made a beautiful rangoli with flowers, leaves and lamps.
  • Jairamji, the priest, started performing the aaradhana.
  • All of us chanted Ramanuja and Acharya taniyans, Acharya ashtotaram and Acharya naamaavalli.
  • Later all the devotees together chanted Vishnu sahasranamam. The hall vibrated with the glorious names of perumal and everybody was in an ecstatic mood.
  • Rajamohan ji and Sriranga Nachiyar ji recited the holy pasurams of Upadesa Ratnamalai by Sri Manavala Mamuni, a blessing from our purvacharyas.
  • We proceeded with perumal aaradhana with panchamruta paada pooja to acharya and bhagwad ramanuja followed by naivedyam to perumal.
  • The devotees were told about the Ramanuja Sahasrabdi and about Prajna classes.
  • We sent personal greeting card to the devotees and some cards were given in person on 11th Nov on the occasion of Diwali and Acharyas tirunakshatram.
  • The program came to a successful conclusion with teertham being distributed to the devotees along with prasadam.
  • Team JETUK wishes once again a happy Diwali and we pray to Lord for our acharya’s well being and lead us in the spiritual path.
