Why learn Tamil?

Tamil belongs to the family of Dravidian languages. It is the official language of Indian State of Tamil Nadu, Union Territory of Puducherry, countries like Sri Lanka and Singapore. As per Britannica, significant number of Tamil speaking individuals are also found in Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, and South Africa. Britannica also states that in 2004 Tamil was declared as a classical language of India, meaning that it met three criteria: its origins are ancient; it has an independent tradition; and it possesses a considerable body of ancient literature.

Learning this language will give the kids an opportunity to become more culturally aware, understand and appreciate cultural differences, be closer to their roots and being multilingual develops cognitive flexibility.
